Despite the editor’s objections, the author stated in a 2017 FAQ that the title of the third and final book would remain Doors of Stone due to popular consensus.
Rothfuss announced his intention for the Kingkiller Trilogy even before the first novel, The Name of the Wind, was published. There’s no set release date for The Doors of Stone yet, but Rothfuss says that he’s working hard on finishing the book. If you’re wondering when the chapter will be published, Rothfuss says that he plans on releasing it “soon.” Once Rothfuss amassed $300,000 in donations, he promised to give a full, spoiler-free section of The Doors of Stone once he reached that amount.
